Practicing the Art of Making a Beautiful Origami Flower

Origami is an art of paper folding that is always associated with the Japanese culture. The goal of origami is transforming a flat sheet square of paper into a beautifully finished sculpture by folding and sculpting. The principles of origami are applied in packaging, stents, and other engineering applications. Basic origami folds are also combined in different ways to make detailed and complex designs.
Almost any flat or laminar material can be used as a medium for origami, as long as it can hold a crease. Origami paper or “kami” is commonly colored on one area, and white on the other side, usually sold in prepackaged squares of different sizes ranging from 1 inch to 10 inches or more. It weighs less than a copy paper which makes it suitable for a wider range of designs. For making waterbomb and crane, a normal copy paper can be used, whereas papers of heavier weight can be wet-folded, allowing a more rounded sculpting, becoming sturdy and rigid when dried. Origami have various types basing on techniques which include action origami, modular origami, wet-folding, pure land origami, origami tessellations, and kirigami. There are a wide variety of making origami, and origami flowers make a beautiful and lovely gift for any occasion such as Valentine’s day, birthdays, Mother’s day, anniversary, and many more. To make a beautiful flower ball, kusudama flowers can be used, as well as a home decoration or an ornament masterpiece during the holiday season. The different flowers you can make from origami include rose, sunflower, tulip, azalea, bell flower, dahlia, cornflower, cherry blossom, lotus, and more.
You’ll need a 6 by 6-inch sheet of paper when making flower petals. First, turn your origami paper so it looks like a diamond, and then fold the bottom half into a triangle shape horizontally, making sure to align the points before making any crease. Take the left point of the triangle with your triangle facing up, and then fold it so the tip is aligned with the top triangle’s point, and repeat the same procedure with the right side of the triangle. Diagonally fold the left point of the triangle, meeting the last crease you just made and unfolded, then do the same step with the right triangle’s point. Now, with the two points of triangles, fold them backward over themselves, giving your two folds with serious creases, then unfolding them. The left and right points of the triangle are folded up and towards the center, having two funnel-like shapes which meet in the middle.
